I am not a big M$ fan, but this should be worth following:
webapps.livemeeting.com/lmtria...up.aspx
The reason I am interested is that Microsoft bought the company called "Groove Networks":
www.groove.net/home/index.cfm
This is the company that Ray Ozzie (Lotus Notes, Visicalc) started and Ray works for Bill now:
spaces.msn.com/members/rayozzie/
I think Ray is pretty much on the mark with social networking and he is "one of the ones" to watch if you are interested in collaboration tootls.

Re: LiveMeeting
Mon, December 12, 2005 - 12:24 PMYep. Ozzie is the star player.
M$ have been smart buying him and giving him a leading strategic role in their makeover. May still not be enough, but at least they have someone who "gets it", and is publicly perceived to get it.
OTOH, I don't think MS are yet well enough adapted to the new realities of the web that I'd particularly go for any of their products. That may change, but they need to do a lot of internal reworking of their soul (particularly how they see customers' and partners) before I'd risk choosing them. -

Mon, December 12, 2005 - 1:45 PMI'm very much for open tools, especially for government and education.
That said, I face the reality of M$ everyday and I'd never underestimate their ability to control any software market they choose to go after.
